I want to extend a BIG HUGE Thank You to the members of Team Xylia-
The Amazing Kez®- my webmistress - without whom THERE WOULD BE NO XYLIA. There simply wouldn't. I have no clue NONE how to build or maintain a website- and she makes the sites amazing.

Also Josh (Canterrain), who I am thrilled to announce has taken the reins of marketing again and in one week has managed to turn the Xylia ship around from the heading toward icebergs. ^_^

This year, I plan to keep going. I have had some down times, and worry, but I really want to keep going. I've solidified some friendships with some other artists and I really hope that we can make soemthing happen this year.

One thing that I am considering is sending Xylia to publishers. This is something I have shied away from after the terrible heartbreak of the Talismen fiasco. I thought that print was a dead avenue, and I shoudl avoid it. But i'm starting to rethink that. I'm going to approach ten-fifteen places and if nothing else, I will self publish Part I by the end of the year.

Sound good?

Thank you all for continuing to support Xylia in bad times and good times! I coudln't do this without YOU either.

~B

Oh Henrike inspired me so I blaming her for what I am about to do...*rolls out a huge 'Go Team Xylia' banner and hangs it up for all to see*

And Thank you Lady B, Kezington and CT for a lovely comic that makes us smile, laugh, cry and cheer for, at and with our favourite characters. *waves around a 'I heart Xenor flag' and hugs her Xenorplushie*

It is also great to hear that you been thinking about giving publishing a try. And I agree with the rest of the zoo, don't give up, if they reject come back with a even better presentation of your work, nag at them until they actually takes a closer look at Xylia and sees what we here at Xyliacs has seen from the start: a story with great potential and a wonderful artist and writer behind it that has shaped a story about fairies in to something magical and fantastic that catches the reader with it's art and storyline that makes you just wanna stay in it and keep traveling along the path to destiny with Claudius.
Well to make a story short, I love Xylia and are forever thankful to you Barb for actually have the guts to tell us this story over the net for all to see. That takes courage and I admire you for that. And we can not forget your lovely minions for their hard work with you to make the ship float along on sometimes stormy oceans.
Big hugs for you three for giving us the chance to enjoy this story.

Kudo`s to the Xylia team!!

And that`s wonderful Barb, that you`re going to try publishing again! It`s a very brave thing to do if you`ve had negative experience with it. You go girl!!!! *hug* I wish you all the best of luck and not only luck but also some people with common sense along the path who see the amazing artwork and the heartwarming story.
Keep us updated so that we can show some support!! *runs to get the `we support Xylia` signs and flags*

Two Corgis, "Auntie Mame" rattled around publishing houses for 15 years before someone picked it up. Tom Clancy's "Hunt for Red October was rejected four times (It's so nice to see some of these larger publishers have to gag on their decisions)

I hope to venture out into trying to get something (a novel) published this year. I plan to keep reminding myself that Harry Potter got rejected nine times before Scholastic published it. If that doesn't keep you from getting discouraged, nothing will.

Barb, having done some writing in years past, I can only agree with what Matt said; do not become discouraged if, at first your publishing efforts do not succeed, but be persistent! Go for it, Lady!!!!!!

... and never give up! While I won't go so far as to say that publishing in academia (where the motto is "Publish or Perish") is like publishing works of art or literature, I do know first hand that it's rare indeed that attempting to publish anything succeeds on the first attempt. If the first publisher says "no", mail it to them again ... and again! And to a thousand others as well!

Good luck!

I'm sorry I have been silent of late. I've been busily preparing for an interview at Purdue University this week.

However, when I read this news I had to break my silence. I think this is terrific! Congrats Barb! You know, if you never take the risk, true, you save yourself a potential heartbreak but you never will reap the rewards either. There is a reason why they say that fortune favors the bold!! ... because the timid never put into the fray to begin with.

Go for it, Barb! I've said all along that you've the talent to be published! :)

And, of course, Barb, Dear heart, please do not neglect to mention a certain artist's skill, imagination and dedication as a major factor. You go, Girl!! {{{{{{{{{{{{{Barb}}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
