Sorry it has been a while. Got lost in life and I have finally fought my way out.
Anyway, I have gotten hooked on the new Dr Who series lately. (Fabulous, BTW.) This fascination quickly grew into an obsession, I am embarrassed to relate. In order to break this obsession, I have dived into waters I have never attempted to swim before. Namely - fan fiction.
My first story went swimmingly. Everything turned out just the way I wanted it to, my characters didn't decide to go off in another direction, and I will definitely try to come up with my own alien names from now on as the alien name generator I found was pretty bunk. (As for my characters going off in another direction, I am sure you writers out there now what I am talking about. My characters are sometimes rather militant about their preferences.)
The second story however is a bit of a problem. I have all my ideas laid out. I know exactly what I want to do, but I have trouble getting there. I have always had trouble with writing "filler". I once wrote a novel (as of yet unpublished) and said everything I wanted in less then 200 pages. I have trouble writing papers more than three pages long. So I am having trouble getting to the major and minor points of this new story.
Then, BANG!!!
A muse of literature, or at least of fan fiction, cracks me over the head with something hard. Suddenly, I have ideas for a completely different story. Thanks, muse! So I now have to get all of these new new ideas out of my head so I can go back to struggling with my new ones.
So it may be a while before my second story if ready for posting. *sigh*
If any of you want to go and see my first attempt (or just laugh hysterically), feel free to go to www.whofic.com/ and search for the pen name Sarfitb.
There are some great stories there too.
