For those of you who have been wondering, I go into surgery today for a thyroid tumor. The surgeon decided that my entire thyroid needed to come out in order to simplify the surgery.
Despite the hope I have, I am afraid. I do not wish to die and ,even more, I do not wish to leave my husband without someone to watch over him.
But one way or another, everything will be finished this evening around seven o'clock. Please keep me in mind around three o'clock.
I only hope I can make my peace with i…

After Allan's hard-hitting statements regarding gaming, I realized how important a "good" game is to my life. A good game is like a good book, something that can take you away from the stress of reality. So, along that vein, I will share a few of my favorite games with you, why I like them and my own personal rating - Stiff Necks. Note: One Stiff Neck is comparable to one thumb up. I chose a "Stiff Neck" due to the pull of a game to keep me hunched over the computer and thus end up with a stiff…

We all know that we have very little, if no, control over our lives. But I think we can not help but attempt to take control, especially when things are going well. You know, take responsibility for all the wonderful things in our lives - like the new promotion that will mean you can get that bigger house, or you got into your dream college by getting that great scholarship, or that extremely hot person who sat next to you at in the Jiffy Lube not only agreed to go out with you but turns out to…

I'm a big hater of WoW. To me it's a rip of good MUDs in the past with no due credit given. The player base, to me, is too chock full of stupid kids whose parents only subscribe to keep them out of their hair. My claims are substantiated by my first and only foray into the game which consisted of 5 hours of patch downloading, followed by an hour of "Wtf? This is retarded" followed by 20 minutes of being called a newb by little idiots after asking for help in finding a quest location. So you coul…

So snap to, 4 AM, just woke up, bored out of my mind, doing a little bit of research on wikipedia for kicks and giggles. Come upon this little section in the Dolph Lundgren article about his house being broken into. COMIC IDEA! Apparently three people broke into his house, tied up his wife and kids, then promptly left when they realized whose house they were robbing. In comes the He-Man joke. I realize this comic won't be exactly politically correct, but the idea of it... well, it made me laugh…

I'm still job hunting. I've had a couple of interviews but I didn't get through.
Some days I feel positive and some days I lose hope.
There was a jobs fair last week. It wasn't as large as I hoped it'd be but I am signed up with another recruitment agency and I've got an appointment next week to see a company that helps people who are looking for jobs (providing training).

Remember when I was the constant bane of the forum? LOL
I haven't been around much, been busy with life, trying to find a job, trying to secure college money, trying to study up on networking and stuff so I can zip through votech as fast as possible for college credits, all that nifty stuff.
Anyway, I'd like to plug a comic for a moment I came across the other day. It's called Shadowgirls. Pretty good little comic. A bit off the beaten track as far as plot line goes. Hard to follow at times. Had…

Well maybe the part with the closet isn't totally true but I did try to lock Lazy girl up in the closet but she complained about the lack of a sofa, cable tv and playstation 2 so she is now retired in a nice sofa somewhere in my mind playing tekken 5 to her hearts content. Yes we did buy that game this summer and it hasn't left the gaming console yet and my thumbs is thinking of hopping of and go in to retirement because of workinduced injury. Yes my inner geekgirl is in love which is scary, las…

Hi all ...
As you know, ever since purchasing my first MacBook Pro (I was previously a Dell user), I've been having a lot of fun with the program called "Garageband" that came preloaded with the computer. I been in several vocal ensembles over the years, but it's been awhile since I've had a real outlet. The nice thing about Garageband is that, if I can't find the time to arrange, write and sing songs with others, then I can at least sing with myself! My vocal range is pretty large, ranging fro…

Hey all
Wanted to know. Who else here has heard of thinspo aka thinspiration???
I stumbled across it on youtube and I am seriously disturbed!
Thinspo for those of you who don't know basically suggests that size 0 is the high of beauty and that any girl with even a once of normal fat is overweight.
Once again i say i was disturbed!
Women come in all shapes and sizes and size 0 is not for everyone. Sure some women are pieit and they are beautiful but some of us have curves and that is…

Last year, I wrote about my struggles with a low fat diet and how much stress I felt at the way our society degrades people of ample curves. I still struggle with these issues, but I have such good news today that I must share it.
As of this morning's weigh-in, I had lost (drum roll please)....................... 93 pounds.
Of course, the fact that I have had mild flu-like symptoms for the last few days probably helped. Still, I am excited!!!!!
Even having lost 93 pounds, I still have a long…

Hey, there ! Maybe some people here still remember me... ;)
Il used to come every day.
But I had family issues, quite bad, and I was totally absorbed in my work, so, even if I never stopped reading Xylia, I had too little time to come here and chat with you.
Now, I achieved my degree, and I'm on holiday ! It was what we call here in France a Master 2, and I think it's what you would call a post-graduate diploma. It's the last diploma you can get before completing a PhD. At least, it is here. I…

I need to blog today. Haven't done this in a bit, and as is my MO, I will likely take this post down shortly after posting it...
I'm entering a phase of dastardly poor communication skills. Typical for me in the summer. Edgy, freaked out, and frustrated, in my attempt to be honest and forthright, I often say things that come across wrong, and find myself viewing silence of others as a response to my irritating behavior. Like gas on a fire, this adds to my paranoia.
Yes, I'm rather idiotic. I a…

Sorry it has been a while. Got lost in life and I have finally fought my way out.
Anyway, I have gotten hooked on the new Dr Who series lately. (Fabulous, BTW.) This fascination quickly grew into an obsession, I am embarrassed to relate. In order to break this obsession, I have dived into waters I have never attempted to swim before. Namely - fan fiction.
My first story went swimmingly. Everything turned out just the way I wanted it to, my characters didn't decide to go off in another directio…

I found out, when I went in to work on Tuesday, that all of those being made redundant were being offered gardening leave to conduct their job hunting. I accepted and I've been at home all this week. I've made a few applications.
I made a discovery at the start of my job search: the monster site doesn't work on Apple Macs. It does, however, work on Windows so I applied for a couple of jobs via that site last night.
I'm now going to create some Excel spreadsheets and put those scripts I wrote i…

So hope everyone had a great weekend. I sure had. Let see it started on friday when I meet an old workbuddy which was pretty fun. Saturday my parents house turned 100 years old which they always said they would celebrate which they did. It was a great party with alot of people that I only knew half of since most of them where people who my parents knew when they where young.
I must admit I drank a bit to much wine but I can honestly say I hade a blast.
The only down side was the weather since mo…

Sorry for a depressing post.
I found out yesterday that I was being made redundant. I've got to work my notice period then I'm on my own.
Yesterday I was in a bit of a daze. Today I've been just getting on with all the normal stuff (work, shopping, etc). I'm going to concentrate on job hunting this weekend.
I can't sleep and I'm not sure why.
On the good news side somebody is coming to repair my boiler on Monday. I'm feeling lazy so here's most of the story:
