Do you have other favorite web comics besides Xylia?

If you post regularly here, it's probably a safe bet that Xylia is your favorite web comic ... or a least it ranks right up there somewhere on top! So, I'm starting a thread to ask, do you, the Xyliacs, have any other favorite web comics besides Xylia?

I'm a big fan of a web comic called Flaky Pastry by Félix Lavallée who lives in Montréal, Quebec. I like his comic for many of the same reasons I like Xyliatales. The artwork and storytelling are excellent. I like his artistic style and wacky characters. His comic tells the story of a bunch of college age students in a diverse "parallel" universe to our own ... one in which the students are humans, as well as goblins, elves (one of whom is clinically insane), werecats, cyborgs, halflings, and even a sword wielding nun!

The main character is a short little female goblin named Nitrine and her two roomates Zintiel, a crazy bad-ass female elf and Marelle, a "cat woman" (not really a werecat ... she just has cute cat ears ... otherwise she appears basically human). Nitrine is a tinkerer and a builder. Marelle is a wicked smart hyper competitive bookworm. and Zintiel, well, is simply nutters - but in a nice way. :-)

Félix also maintains a very active blog of his artwork at the following parallel site:

All the best!

To note, I love threads like these because they give me interesting ideas on where I could potentially advertise Xylia.

Didn't we already have a topic for this sort of things ?
I think I discovered several wonderful webcomics because Xyliacs had linked them somewhere.

I do have other favorite webcomics, but I am a WEIRD person and I wouldn't say that the other comics I like would be ones Xylia readers would like. Right now...

1) Goblins.
2) Xylia
3) Darths and Droids
4) Menage a 3 (yeahhhhhhhh, uh... I don't know why either, honestly, but I follow it for some inexplicable reason.)

Xylia and Goblins are the only two fantasy comics I regularly follow. There's a bazillion other comics I follow on a less regular basis, though. Bazillions, I tell you! There's only four on my 'every update' list, though. I keep waiting to see if another one will make it on. I think Shortpacked might and Dreamless would if it actually updated on a schedule and I liked the community. There's a key thing about these four comics: I'm part of the community and enjoy being part of it. (Maybe that's why I like Ma3, awesome forums) I don't just READ them.

I would LOVE to have more comics on my regular reading list, though. I just havn't hit on any that I care so much about what's happening that I'm willing to put it on my top bar and remember the update schedule. (Cherry doesn't count because it's not on a regular update schedule to begin with! So I guess I could add it to my 'followed' list...) I admit it, I'm a bit of a fuzzy person.

Ah, there used to be a time when I followed a whole bunch of webcomics... Then I had to start working for my living.
Nowadays, there's actually only 2-3 of them.
xkcd I think I started reading that because Canterrain linked to it, actually...
Other People's Business Just getting started, but I'm sure it will be just as good as Friendly Hostility.

Also, there's What Birds Know Updates are irregular, and I haven't checked it out for probably a month, but it is always very interesting when I do.

Apart from Xylia, I read several webcomics, but few are eagerly expected every week :

- Weregeek : You're a geek or you're not. I clearly am. Mark, the hero of this webcomic, is also one of them, and, during a night with a gaming moon, he discovers the fantastic world of role play ! Hilarious ! (Well... when you know about role play games and LARP, of course !)

- Drow Tales : Moonless Age : Drows are living under the surface of good old Earth. They are organized in clans, and their lives are leaded by diplomacy and war. Ariel, a little Drow girl, is bound to become the heir of her mother. What a harsh life she leads !

- Looking for Group : the fantastic and hilarious adventures of Cale'anon the elf, Richard the warlock, and their fellows, in a crazy fantasy world.

- Phœnix Requyem : ok, you probably already know this one. If not : you should.

Hmm, I follow several very good comics out there, Xylia among the top ones, if not the favourite. :D

I would recommend these:

Earthsong - An unusual story about a girl waking up to find herself in a parralel world to our own. Slightly anime style, not usually my thing, but quite good here. There's the concept of each world having a living Planet entity, some humour and an ongoing story with an intense plotline.

Off-White - Now this one's something special. Two very young co-creators (about 20!) have created fabulous art and an intricate storyline. There's Norse mythology involved. The story focuses on two humans searching for a cure for humanity's spiritual breakdown, and a small wolf pack avoiding the destruction of their habitat. The two species, humans and wolves, are linked. Beautiful artwork, it should definitely be checked out.

Rosa- the story of a young gypsy girl with a curse, travelling through her world and meeting quirky characters. Very fun. Pretty artwork, an important factor for me! ;)

Finally, there's Lackadaisy Cats- an excellent Prohibition era story, with lots of humour, detailed art and sepia-toned pages, for that good ol'-fashioned feel. The characters are clothed cats, but don't let that put you off if you don't like that style. These kitties are completely human in their interactions and quite charming!

Happy reading! :D

Fantasy: Phoenix Requiem, Misfile, Dreamland Chronicles, Evil Inc., Zap!, Key, The Meek, and of course Xylia

Humor: XKCD, Questionable Content, Girls with Slingshots, Wondermark, Shortpacked, and Kate Beaton

Romantic: Red String, Dovecote Crest, Yu+Me Dream (a lesbian webcomic), Khaos Komic (an LGBT webcomic), and DAR

I'm feeling lazy so I'll refer you to the old thread about webcomics.

Since then I've added a few more:

Pure and Hidden Truth
A pair of paranormal investigators from Hidden Truth magazine try to expose weird stuff whilst keeping their paranormal selves secret.

Dark Red
A blind woman discovers that angels and demons are real.

Night Zero
Human survivors after the zombie apocalypse.

Trying Human
Can alien abduction lead to love?

Dreamless
Two people: half a world away from each other with a weird link.

Surviving the world
Observations on all aspects of life.

Witch & Cat
What do you do when you're told you're to be the next witch?

Delusionary State
What if the things that we thought were fiction were really fact?

Requiem (at Spiderforest)[1]
Set on a different planet, a sci-fi/political thriller with war and seemingly impossible things.

Sea of Insanity
A mature college student moves into a new place and quickly finds out that his landlady is a little older than she looks. Muses, nymphs, Gods, etc, complicate home life.

The Dreamland Chronicles
The story about a young man and a world that he visits when he's asleep. Is it real or just a dream?

Garanos
A young warrior travels foreign lands in search of her fiance, who was kidnapped months ago.

Calling Home
The lone survivor on a drifting space freighter attempts to contact civilisation.

[1] I included that "at Spiderforest" to distinguish it from the other webcomic called Requiem that people here follow.

Now Flaky Pastry is on that list.

I've actually cut down on my web comics I read daily...
8 bit theater, xylia, war of winds, CAD (Tho I'm considering not reading that anymore, as it no longer provides me with entertainment), Vgcats, Phoenix Requiem, and Rival Angels are pretty much my staple these days.
