Oh dear. Oh dear oh dear oh dear.

Well, at least one sister likes him, right?

Right?

I love the faces in this one, Barb. They are just so well done (and so well lit as well, squee!) You can tell just what they're thinking:
Claudius face #1: Gah, I'm so confuuuuuuuused!

Katharos face #1: My brother's finally back! Yay! And I get to feed him, yay!

Claudius face #2: Well, might as well go along with the hyper sister I never knew I had...

Adora face #2: I love the smell of irony in the morning. Or evening, or whatever...

Katharos face #2:...Okay, Mum and Dad spawned another monster. No need to panic...AAAAHHH!!!

Adora face #3: Oh, it's going to be a good next few days. :)

Katharos face #3(Okay, you can't actually see it, but she's probably thinking something like this anyway judging by the position of her arms over her head): RUN AWAY, MY PRETTIES! OR FLY AWAY! YES, FLY AWAY FOR YOUR LITTLE FEATHERY LIVES!!!

Claudius face #3:...What. The. F?

Wrapped into this is the trauma of every soft hearted little child who's been told that, yes, by the way, you know that fuzzy lamb we saw at that farm we visited today? Well, we're eating one of its very distant relations. And the horror that ensues. The horror!

Or was that just me?

Yes, nice to have a lighthearted update after a walk on the dark side for awhile.

But I've got to ask ... in the next to last frame, is ... is that robin spitting out a sunflower seed?? Are we witnessing the aviary version of a spit-take?

:-)

Muahahah ! I laughed aloud while reading today's page.
I already loved Adora... now, I "adore" her ! ^^

I've decided that I love her as well - the relationship between them is so snarky and one-upping. Katharos seems very much to be the baby sister, and Adora's the older sibling who loves to tease her until she snaps, because it's so funny. But they love each other anyway!

Sort of.

Do I have experience in such a relation ship with my own sibling? Whatever gave you that idea?

I'm glad you are all enjoying this page- I kind of worried that the radical shift from the drama of the flashback to this comedy relief would be too much of a jump, but no one seems to be complaining. ^_^
The next update of Nigel happens to peculiarly coincide with this one- where we discover that Azloeans are not carnivorous. (well, there's a couple of them that are...)

FWIW - The last section of the chapter was totally rewritten- someday I may share the original idea. But I always knew that Claude's meat eating tendancies would not be favorably received by his sister the bird faeirie...

Well, how could Katharos expect Claude not to eat meat? All those lovely meat dishes in 'Epsilion': steak and kidney pie and sausages and chicken nuggets and roast dinners, etc, etc...

At first I thought Katharos took offence at Adora eating meat because Adora did it partially to annoy her (rather like an obnoxious sibling nudging their vegetarian family member at the dinner table and saying 'I say, this steak is awfully tasty, how's your nut cutlet?') but now it seems that Adora's an anomaly. After all, how do the Exiles know that they haven't killed someone's animal friend to eat by mistake? (Also, what exactly does Livy eat, then? DOES Livy eat?)

I can just imagine Katharos reacting to any attempt to harm her feathered friends. "I KEEL YOU!"

It reminds me a tiny bit of China, actually; people are omnivorous but are more inclined towards vegetarianism. I do wonder how Claude is going to react to the news that none of his favourite dishes will be available here.

Mwaha! Love theese expressions Barbington! Especially Claude`s baffled one as he looks after her when running out. So awesome! It`s your typical "what did I say?" expression (even if the answer is so crystal clear that my windows looks grimy in comparison.)

Barb, don't know how you do it but you've outdone yourself again. The utter shock on Katharos' face, the self-satisfied smirk as Adora realizes that her sister, the well-meaning airhead, is gonna freak, poor ol' Claudius with that "What'd I do?" look on his face (Lord, that sounds familiar) and your always twelve steps better than the rest artwork, 'tis a winner, Dear Heart. (Again!!)

The first thought I had when Claudius said he liked chicken was '*gasp* Cannibal'. XD

But I agree Katharos reaction was very funny and Adora rocks, love her rather sarcastic personality and the way she teases her babysister.
And yes I have had some similare reaction when hearing about the food one has been eating is indeed a distant relation to the cuddly babycows or lambs that one sees when one is out on the countryside. So now I can't eat anything that has names like lambchops or stuff like that.

Oh that was fricking b eautiful. From "Oh yay my brother is back!" to "I HAVE NO BROTHER!!!!" in two seconds flat. Plus, gotta love chickens, even with the semi-cannibalism.

As for Adora, I finally like her now that I see she's more.....well, I don't wanna say goth, but that's probably the closest in terms of personality to what I do wanna say that my brain won't come up with the word for. That grin as Kath runs screaming.......oh, if only we could see mom and dad's faces to this.

Oh and somebody tell Sarah that chicken nuggets aren't meat. They're just made out of whatever hot dogs are made out of, which also isn't meat.

Something tells me that saying such to Kath isn't going to make her feel any better. Otherwise it wouldn't have had 'chicken' in its name. ;)

Ah, you got me! I was hanging on to my pleasant childhood memories of going to Mcdonald's as a treat for enduring so much boring clothes shopping, and having chicken nuggets...before learning the awful, awful truth.

How about chicken drumsticks? They're really yummy too without all the synthetic stuff, and it's pretty hard to imitate bone.

Oh yeah, they're definitely meat. My only suspicions are hot dogs, the nuggets, and baloney. It tastes fine, but it can't really be definied. The closest you can come is bull, and I know that's not right.
